Senior DT Technician

Senior Design Technology Technician Wigmore Academy Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Design Technology Technician to provide support for the staff and pupils in the Design and Technology department. You would be joining an established and friendly team in a popular and high achieving school. Based at the High School you would be responsible to the Head of Science and Design Technology in co-ordinating the use of, and development of, practical resources and facilities, including the provision of guidance and support in meeting the practical requirement of the DT curriculum, as well as liaising with all areas of the school and outside organisations. ESSENTIAL Qualifications - Appropriate qualifications at Level 2 and above which demonstrate the capability of managing a practical school environment DESIRABLE - Food Hygiene Certificate - English and maths at Grade C/4 or above at GCSE - First Aid certificate ESSENTIAL Experience - Experience of practical technology equipment DESIRABLE - Experience of working with children - Experience of working in a design technology environment ESSENTIAL Knowledge and Understanding - Knowledge of the use and safety features of a range of machinery important to design technology DESIRABLE - Knowledge of the use and safety features of a range of machinery important to the catering industry ESSENTIAL Abilities and Skills - Ability to maintain clean, tidy and hygienic working environment - Ability to follow instructions efficiently - Practical skills - Interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Time management skills DESIRABLE - ICT literacy - Administrative skills ESSENTIAL Personal Attributes - Resilient - Reliable - Committed - Honest - Trustworthy - Dedicated - Patient - Loyal - Enthusiasm, warmth and a good sense of humour - High expectations of self and others ESSENTIAL Other Factors - Good attendance record - Outstanding references - Willingness to undertake further training - A commitment to high educational standards, which maximise the achievements of all pupils - A commitment to equality of opportunity for all pupils - A commitment to the school’s ethos and values - Flexibility in the work environment - A willingness to reflect upon experiences in a critical and constructive manner Police clearance (DBS check)
