The map is never the only way
Every vacancy on the map is also in a semantic list. Search, filtering, opening a vacancy and applying all work without the map, without dragging and without a pointer.

Finding work should not depend on a mouse or a map.
JobNearby aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA across the public service. The map is an enhancement over a fully usable list, not a requirement.

What we build for
Keyboard and focus
Controls are reachable and operable with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline that is not hidden behind other elements.
Motion is optional
If your device asks to reduce motion, animated loading and map movement are calmed down automatically.
High contrast and zoom
The interface is designed to support Windows High Contrast, forced colours and zooming to 400% without content being cut off.
Honest status
What is tested, and what is still manual
Automated accessibility checks run against the home, list and job detail pages on every change, alongside keyboard, reduced-motion, forced-colour and 400% zoom checks in the browser test suite. These catch many issues but cannot prove full conformance on their own.
Testing with real assistive technology — screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS and VoiceOver, and Windows High Contrast on physical devices — is being completed and is not yet finished. JobNearby will not claim full WCAG 2.2 AA conformance until that manual evidence is recorded.
